Unknown truths about leading ladies of Ramayan!
The great epic written by Valmiki is one epic, which has mentioned those things about women that make them great. There are many women in Ramayan who played the role of women with proper devotion. These women are worshipped even today. The major female characters of Ramayan include Sita , Kaikeyi , Kausalya , Sumitra , Ahilya , Urmila , Ansuiya , Sabari , Mandodari , Trijata and Surpanakha , Lankini and Manthra .Out of all these women, Sita, Urmila, Ansuya and Mandodari have a special place. Besides them, other women who are an embodiment of devotion are Shabri and Trijata (who guarded Sita in Lanka).
Sita
Sita is believed to be the daughter of the Earth. King Janak had found Sita from under the ground. Sita in the Ramayan is tolerant, wise, virtuous wife, a good multi-efficient housewife and the best female. All these qualities make her a great woman. Even after having thousands of servants, Sita took pride in serving her husband Rama. Sita was a part of Rama’s happiness, misery and under difficult circumstances.
Urmila
In Ramayan, Urmila was Sita’s younger sister and Lakshman’s wife. When Lakshman accompanied Rama and Sita in their exile in forest, Urmila stayed inside the palace and spent a life of a tapasvi. She served all her mother-in-laws and because of this Lakshman could be a support to Rama. Urmila’s sacrifice is considered to be bigger than of Sita’s.
Ansuya
In the Ramayan, Ansuya is the wife of sage Brahma Atri. Ansuya was not jealous of any one in nature. However, most women today are envious of others.
Mandodari
Despite being the queen of Raavan, Mandodari was very religious, devotional and a faithful woman. Her husband was in the right advice and at times would warn him of any forthcoming trouble. It was Raavan’s bad luck that he did not pay attention to Mandodari when she had warned him before abducting Sita.

Trijata was the main monster in Raavan’s Lanka. Raavan had appointed her as the care taker of Sita. Trijata used boost the morale of Sita like a mother would do to daughter.
